V L Test Systems Malaysia Sdn Bhd (VLT), which was established two years ago and is part of the Van Leeuwen group of companies from The Netherlands (already in business for more than 50 years), develop and manufacture highly technical and high-quality solutions for the Vehicle Testing industry worldwide. The Malaysian VLT Company operates from a modern building in the industrial area of Puchong where we look after our clients needs throughout Malaysia and later also including nearby countries in the region.
Concentrating on Vehicle Testing Business and Bus & Truck Industry, but also supplying testing equipment for Cars and Vans, we are looking for a Country Manager with a solid technical background and all-round management skills – a real hands-on manager from nature – who also possesses the necessary capabilities to initiate and conclude sales deals. Although the number of sales achieved is very important, the ability to ensure that our customer purchases the correct equipment for his needs is even far more important as we also pride ourselves on our excellent after-sales and customer support for the total life-cycle of the equipment.
Candidates will need to show an excellent electromechanical understanding, be PC literate, with good knowledge of the local Car - Truck and Bus Industry. Furthermore an understanding of vehicle testing would be a definite advantage.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide strategic vision and operational leadership for Malaysia. Focused on increasing revenues and maximizing the company’s business opportunities in a rapidly evolving and competitive market; provide category marketing leadership to ensure delivery of growth objectives in line with the development of strategic plans to achieve long term business objectives. This in close contact and approval from the parent company.
- To take on a leadership position in the following areas; business and legal responsibilities; technical excellence, business development, commercial and financial management, strategic direction and performance; lead the country team to develop, implement and execute a sound strategic plan designed to achieve growth and profitability.
- Maintain an awareness of new developments within the industry, including those from competitors’ activities throughout the country, thereby assisting the Company’s marketing effort.
- Conduct market analysis and proposal to Head Office on market information and market approach.
- Maintain contact with all major customers and ensure that the company is bidding for all eligible projects.
- To ensure an awareness of all ventures and the contractors who run these projects.
- Wherever possible to assist with conceptual study work to ensure that enquiries come to the company.
- At all times maintain a thorough technical knowledge of the Company’s product range and maintain and grow business in close interaction with parent company.
- Stay up to date with all legal matters from the Government bodies.
Qualifications:
A degree holder preferably in Finance or Engineering with extensive of working experience in the business of technical equipments or products.
It is essentially important for an experienced Manager who has worked for a minimum of 5 years and will be in a position to bring client contacts with them. This candidate must be strong in Marketing and Finance but technically sound due to the art of our highly technical products and systems. The candidate will act as the coordinator with our clients of all levels from Top Management to floor level.
Candidates should also have good English skills in word and writing, be presentable, be in good health, be loyal, have excellent timekeeping and have the ability to liaise with Directors and Workshop staff alike. A clean driving licence is preferred and the candidates must understand that flexible working hours and some nights away from home are part of fulfilling this position.
